How to Compress a Video for WhatsApp

What should I change first?
Resolution is often the most effective first change for phone viewing. A 720p copy usually remains clear on a mobile screen while requiring much less data than 4K. Balanced compression is a good starting point; move to High only if the result is still too large.
Will WhatsApp compress it again?
Messaging apps may apply their own processing depending on how a file is sent and on current platform rules. Preparing a smaller MP4 yourself gives you a chance to preview the quality first and can make the upload quicker, especially on a slow connection.
How do I preserve readable text?
Screen recordings and videos with captions need extra care. Keep the resolution high enough for text to remain legible and use Balanced quality before trying stronger compression. Preview the entire result, not just the opening frame.
